With this 2016 cohort, U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools (ED-GRS) turns FIVE! It is hard to believe that, just a few years ago, I was cooking up recognition award criteria in my kitchen based on input from many organizations and agencies. Now, we have a school award, district award, postsecondary award, Green Strides resources and webinars, and an annual tour. Here at ED, we work with natural resource and health agencies to share effective resources for school sustainability, and, of course, spotlight the promising practices of our honorees.
