If you are unsure of any terminology used throughout this application, please refer to Appendix A GLOSSARY OF TERMS. This program is available for a limited time and you may apply while funds last. 1.0Eligibility 1.1For the purposes of this program, contributions will only be provided to qualifying Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) within Northern Ontario. 1.2SMEs deemed eligible are as follows: (a)operating on a full-time basis, with a valid BIN number; (b)seasonal businesses, such as tourism operations; (c)not-for-profit organizations with a focus on Economic Development. 1.3SMEs deemed not eligible are as follows: (a)hobby businesses; (b)SMEs that have no reasonable prospect of being sustainable. 1.4Applicants may receive a contribution of up to 75% to a total of $5,000, whichever is the lesser amount. Applicants fall in to one of the following categories: (a)having never participated in the BEAM program before (b)having previously received a contribution less than $5,000; (c)having previously received a contribution totalling $5,000 and are therefore not eligible for further contributions for a three (3) year period from the approval date of your most recent BEAM project. Successful Applicants will be required to sign a Contribution 1.5 Agreement with MCN. 2.0 E-Business Goals E-Business goals must be results oriented to have an impact on the business operations of the Applicant. 2.1Goals include, but are not limited to: (a)marketing; (b)sales fulfillment; (c)competitive intelligence; (d)production; (e)internal operations; (f)human resources management. 3.0 BEAM Components Complete Section D E-BUSINESS GOALS, Section E PROPOSED TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS and Section F VENDOR INFORMATION by addressing which BEAM component(s) will assist the Applicant in achieving their E-Business goals. 3.1The Applicants project may be classified as: (a) web development: (i) domain registration; (ii) design. (b) content development: (i) web copy; (ii) digital media. (c) mobile applications: (i) mobile websites; (ii) mobile apps. (d) applications that support business operations (i) business management and process control applications; (ii) training applications. 4.0Terms of the BEAM Program 4.1 Applicants may receive a contribution of up to 75% to a total of $5,000, whichever is the lesser amount. Recipients are eligible to receive up to $5,000 within a three (3) year period. 4.2Funding is available for the technical work associated with creating a web presence or capability for the SME or for the costs associated with implementing or upgrading E-Business applications. Funding can also be used to develop or enhance business applications for smartphones and mobile devices. 4.3Eligible costs include the design, development and implementation of BEAM components. 4.4 Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and E-Business marketing development may be considered. 4.5A minimum of two quotes sourced from different vendors addressing each of the Applicants proposed E-Business goals must be submitted with your application. Northern Ontario vendors are preferred (see Section A BEAM PROGRAM INFORMATION, 5.0 Local Vendor Policy for further information). Current vendor quotes are required. 4.6Ongoing costs such as web hosting, maintenance and media placement costs are not deemed eligible. 4.7 Receipts for eligible expenses must be provided for a claim to be processed. See Section B APPLICATION CHECKLIST for details on how to complete this application in order for the BEAM application to be processed. 4.8Applications must meet approval before development work proceeds. MCN will not make any contribution to any expenses made prior to the start date and after the end date. 5.0 Local Vendor Policy 5.1 Northern Ontario vendors (as defined at the federal level) are preferred. Applicants who use Northern Ontario vendors will be eligible for up to 75% funding of eligible costs to a maximum of $5,000. 5.2Applicants who choose to use developers outside of Northern Ontario will only be eligible for up to 65% funding of eligible costs to a maximum of $5,000. 5.3MCN provides a list of vendors at http:/www.mcnet.ca/servicedirectory/search/. Vendors wishing to be added to MCNs vendor list may be added to this list by completing the application found at http:/www.mcnet.ca/servicedirectory/add/. Section B APPLICATION CHECKLIST The Applicant has read, understood and completed the application as per the processing information below.
