Welcome to the world of Chinese Traditional costume content Introduction Two fundamental styles of Chinese traditional costume Evolution and traits of Chinese traditional costume summary introduction China is a historical country with splendid civilizations, in which the Chinese costume is an important part. The Chinese costume, which has over 5,000 years history, is just like a long river. Two foundational styles The Yi (shirt) and Shang (skirt) system(上衣下裳制 ) This is the earliest style of our costume system, it stemmed from the era of Huangdi, which has a great impact on our modern life. Sewn-up system(衣裳连属制) Also called shenyi, a type of Han Chinese clothing commonly worn from the pre-Shang periods to the Han Dynasty. The yi(衣, shirt) and shang(裳, skirt) of the shenyi is sewn together. The form of shenyi has a great influence to the late costume, even to our todays dress, such as one-piece dress. Evolution and traitsEvolution and traitsEvolution and traitsEvolution and traits Xia,Shang and Zhou Periods In these three periods, the wearing of people obeyed the Yi and Shang system. Shenyi system started from Zhou period. These two systems had a deep influence on later ages. The spring and autumn period The occurrence of Hufu and the prevalence of Shenyi are the most important change in costume. Wars in the spring and autumn period promoted the evolution of Han costumes broad shirt, long skirt and tunic. In order to enhance the armys strength, Wu Ling King of Zhao State introduced Hufu into Central Plan, this was the first costume evolution in history. Hufu consisted of narrow sleeved shirt, long trousers and boot. Han Dynasty Crossed collar(交领 ) Restrain the waist( 束腰) Fastened by ropes or sometimes by rope hooks(用带系结,或用 带钩) Put the front of the collar at right(右祍) Tang Dynasty exquisite colorful various styles open elegant Song Dynasty The style of costume in Song Dynasty tended to conservative, impressing people with feeling of simple, pure and elegant. Narrow, long, thin are the main characteristics of womens clothing. Yuan Dynasty The clothes in Yuan Dynasty mainly is short robes, more tight, narrow, there are a lot of folds in the waist, this dress is very convenient to horse dismounted. Ming Dynasty The costume in Ming Dynasty basically followed the style of Tang and Song Dynasties, but there were some differences in sizes of shirt and skirt. Narrow sleeved shirt, long skirt prevailed in the early years of Ming Dynasty. Broad long sleeved shirt and short skirt prevailed in the middle years of Ming Dynasty. While in the late of Ming Dynasty, the narrow long sleeved shirt was popular with women. Qing Dynasty Rectangular outline (外轮廓呈长方形) Clothes do not get the waist down (衣服上下不取腰身) Horseshoe-shaped sleeve cover hand (马蹄袖盖手) Set rolling craft decoration (镶滚工艺装饰) Qing Dynasty Shirt is not exposed (衫不外漏) The right-side lapel of junction decorated with buttons (偏襟右祍以盘纽为饰) Clothing plus clothing (衣外加衣) Increase waistcoat or jacket (增加坎肩或马甲) summary Chinese traditional costume culture plays an important in Chinese traditional culture.
