The primary goal of this research is attempting to reconnect the relationship between waterscape and environment, which has been broken up in the past urbanization. The method used in this study is known as the ecological planning and design, and the author suggests that the ecological waterscape planning should include the aspects of water environment restoring, old buildings reusing, different levels water purifying system and traditional culture exploring, etc. It is concluded that the correct judgment and optional operation of these factors will enhance the function of urban waterscape as well as improve city living environment in general.IntroductionOver the past several decades, many cities in China have been making a great development in planning and construction. Large amounts of waterscape projects have appeared or are incurring in front of people. However, the traditional design method of the city waterscape separates the dependencies between waterscape and citys environment, which handling landscape merely with buildings. In addition to the pollution, many waterscapes also exists other problems, such as secondary pollution, damaging the environment. Therefore, some more ecological and sustainable ideas or methods should be concerned under this situation. This paper is divided into three major sections as follows: Section one of this paper opens with the current situation of water environment pollution in Chinese city. Second two reveals the main purpose and points about ecological waterscape, which are discussed within the scope of restoring waterscape by ecological method and natural material, reasonable reusing existing buildings, different levels of water purify system and traditional culture heritage, etc. The design approaches and planning objectives of ecological waterscape, which should be given considerable attention in future development, are articulated in the last section.Situation of Modern Urban Water EnvironmentMany cities are built rely on water, modeled by water. Water is an irreplaceable source of human survival in urban development. Since the city is the most intensive areas of population, industry, transport, energy, material and information, the sewage of city is very large. All of these bring us many problems such as urban water pollution, deterioration of water quality, ecological degradation. These issues are not only serious health hazards, but also seriously impacted on the urban landscape.According to the 2011 China State of Environment Bulletin 1. In 2011, earths surface water in China was overall mild pollution. Among the 204 rivers and 409 Surface water state-controlled monitoring sections, the respective ratio of category, V and inferior were 61.0%, 25.3% and 13.7%. Eutrophication of lakes and reservoirs is still prominent, in 26 state-controlled monitoring focal point lakes and reservoirs, the proportion of category, V and inferior were 42.3%, 50.0% and 7.7%. The severe eutrophication ratio was 46.2%. Therefore, urban ecological water environment in these watersheds are still facing the huge pressure. From emerging to developing, ecological water environment is the most valuable resource and basic carrier of urban environment, which have been impacting on the planning and developing of the entire city. With the rising awareness of environment and health, protection and reasonable using water resources, concerning the influence of artificial project impact on ecology, planning urban ecological waterscape in the scientific and artistic way, these issues are gradually becoming the urgent tasks to ensure the sustainable development of the city.Main Point of Ecological Waterscape DesignUrban is an ecological symbiosis environment between artificial environment and natural environment 2.
