Unit6 Good Manners说课教案示例二Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Im glad to interpret my lesson here. The lesson Im going to talk about is reading part of unit 6-table manners at a dinner party.First, I will explain my theoretical basis-that is culture teaching in ELT. New Standard for Senior English Curriculum was issued in April, 2020. It emphasizes the importance of cultural awareness. In ELT, culture refers to history, geography, local conditions and customs, traditional practices, ways of living, literature and art, behavior, concept of values, and etc. This New Standard requires teachers to gradually expand the contents and extents of culture knowledge according to students age and cognitive ability. Table manners are part of culture and table manners in the west are quite different from those in China. Therefore, I will put my emphasis on this cultural part in my lesson. My understanding of the teaching material includes 3 parts: teaching objectives, importance, and difficulties.I have three teaching objectives. The first one is to make students know more about western table manners. The second one is to improve students reading abilities and comprehension. And the last one is to make them learn some useful words and expressions. The importance in the lesson is to get to know some western table manners. And there are two difficulties: one is how to lay the table at a western dinner party, the other is to make a contrast study on table manners in Chinese and Western cultures.Next, I will interpret teaching procedures, the most important part of my teaching plan.Step 1: greeting and lead-inThis step will cost 5 minutes. First, I will show an invitation card to my students. I will tell them that this is an invitation card that I received from my English friend. She invited me to have a dinner at her house this evening. Then, what should I do if I want to leave a good impression? I will ask students to discuss this question in pairs. During the discussion, I will write “how to leave a good impression?” on the blackboard. (板书)After the discussion,I will ask 4 or 5 students to give their opinions. Meanwhile, I will write down key points of their opinions on the blackboard. For example(板书) “arrive on time” “take a small gift” “have good table manners”. Then I will tell students that getting to know some knowledge about western table manners can help us avoid getting embarrassed when having a western dinner.Step 2: fast readingThis step will cost 5 minutes. First, I will ask students to read the passage quickly and then try to finish Exercise 2 on Page 39. During their fast reading, I will write something on the blackboard. (板书) . After fast reading, I will invite 2 students to give the right order of dishes served at a Chinese dinner party and a western dinner party.Step 3: detailed reading. This step will cost 20 minutes.First, I will ask students to read Para 1 carefully and try to draw a picture to show how to lay the table at a western dinner party. This work will be done in groups. Four students a group. Before they draw the picture, I will give some examples of how to draw the tableware. (板书). When students work in groups, I will give them some instructions: to draw a right picture, they should not only read Para 1 carefully but also try to recall what they have seen in western movies. When they finish drawing, I will use the projector to display some pictures they have drawn. And then, I will show the picture I draw.Next, I will ask students to read Para 2 to 5, and find out what we should do and what we should not do during dinner. When they read, I will draw a form on the blackboard. When they finish reading, I will invite several students to summarize dos and donts in these situations and I will write down key point of what they say. When we finish filling this form, I will ask students to look at Exercise 3 on Page 39. Students are required to answer polite or impolite together according to this form.Next, I will ask students to read Para 6 with 2 questions. One is “what will you do if you are not sure what to do?”, the other is “why is it difficult for people to follow good table manners?”.After checking the answers, I will show excerpts of Pretty Woman to let students better understand Para 6. The excerpts I choose will last 40 seconds. The next step is language points. It will cost 8 to 10 minutes. I will point out and explain some useful words and expressions.Make a good impression, behave, start with, at table, drink to, raise, fashionThe last step is homework. Finish exercise 2 on page 40 and then compare Chinese table manners and western table manners.make/leave/create a good impression on sb. 给某人留下好印象behave: a. to do things that are good, bad, sensible etc. She behaved in a very responsible way. b. behave yourself: to not do things that annoy or offend people.start with 以为开始; 先从做起to start with 起初;首先;(作状语,后面不加宾语)The teacher advis
