Bears are opportunistic feeders and will remember where to; find easy food and return to the location. If they continue to gain access to human provided foods, they can become food conditioned and habituated. Bears that begin to exhibit those behaviors can become a public safety risk and possibly be killed by wildlife officials. Remember “A fed bear is a dead bear.” If a bear is seen in your yard, increase their natural fear of humans by making loud noises from a secure location.Myth #2: Black bears are strict carnivores (食肉动物)。While the bear family is part of the Order (目) Carnivora, the Florida black bear is described as an omnivore (杂食动物), eating a diet made up of 80% vegetation, 16% insects, and 4% meat. Bears will rarely try to chase down a large animal, such as an adult deer, for a meal, because it will result in a loss of energy a lot of energy used trying to catch the animal with very little chance of a successful catch, thus no energy gained.Myth #3: Its best to run away or climb a tree to escape a black bear.Black bears have curved toe nails, naturally making them great climbers. They will commonly climb trees or send their babies up a tree to escape an obvious danger. Nut bearing trees, like oaks, are common places to find black bears feeding in the fall. Black bears can run up to 30 mph. Running from any wild animal can also cause a chase instinct, so it is best to back away slowly and find a secure location, like a vehicle or bui
