The simple past tense is one of the most common tenses in English. We use the simple past to refer to an action in the past that is finished. For example, I lived in Paris for 1 year. Sometimes the speaker may not actually mention the specific time, but they do have one specific time in mind. Look at the following examples. Step V Homework 1. Ask the students to learn more past forms of irregular verbs in the dictionary. 2. Ask the students to read a short story and pay attention to the verb forms in the story.
