All Rights Reserved.05/09/09Body Electrical - 4Seatbelt Reminder SystemSome 2006 Civic models are equipped with a seatbelt reminder system that gives warning if the drivers seatbelt is not fastened in order to reduce the risk of injury in the event of a collision.The system activates a warning light and warning chime if the driver is not wearing the seatbelt.Only when the drivers seatbelt is not fastened, the warning light flashes and the chime sounds for 6 seconds after turning ON the ignition switch. If the vehicle runs at 7 km/h or faster for 30 seconds with the seatbelt still not fastened, the warning light flashes and the warning chime sounds for 6 seconds followed by steady illumination of the warning light for 24 seconds. This warning cycle will be repeated 18 times unless the seatbelt is fastened. The warning is cancelled as soon as the seatbelt is fastened.The system suspends its operation if the vehicle speed drops below 7 km/h, but resumes when the speed reaches 7 km/h or faster. When this system senses an occupant in the front passenger seat but the seatbelt is not fastened, the system reminds the passenger to put on the seatbelt.
