By the experimental re-sults, D-ring-monoaromatic hopane and 17null (H) , 21null-hopane are the characteristic compounds with the highest amountin the fraction of hydrocarbons of Zhaotong brown coal resin. The others of pentacyclic triterpanoids and their aromatizedtriterpanes are existed, but much lower in content than that in Xundian, Liaohu, Shulan brown coal resins. The normalfatty acids from C14 to C30 are distributed and C16, C18, C24, C26, C28 acids are predominant of free acids in Zhaotongbrown coal resin, with a distribution order of C16 C26 null C24 C18 C28 C22 C25 C20.
