The first time say can and the second time say cant.Now tell students well hear five conversations. In each conversation the person says that they can cant come to the party.Listen to the conversations carefully and then circle the word “can ”or“ cant”. Then play the recording for students.The first time only listen.Play the recording again.This time students can circle can or cant.Check the answers with the whole class.Answers:1. cant 2. can 3. cant 4. cant 5. canStep III 2bAsk a student to read the five sentences in Activity 2b. Tell students these are reasons why people cant go to the party.Now listing to the recording again.This time please listen to the conversations and write the number of a conversation(13)in front of the reasons. Two of the reasons are not in the recording.
