In the last few years, its sales revenue from main business (shipbuilding) increases dramatically from RMB 130million to 1.2 billion. With the expansion of its production capacity, a higher quality management level is required for X Shipbuilding Company. Since 1960s, after Total Quality Management Theory (TQM) was put forward, people have gradually acknowledged that the quality of products is realized not just by relying on product inspection but by performing comprehensive analysis and study through systematic engineering concepts. This paper introduces the development of quality concepts first, followed by the introduction of the market positioning of X Shipbuilding Company in the shipbuilding industry and the current quality management system of the company. By analyzing the current situation of X Shipbuilding Company in the aspects of quality planning, quality objective setting, quality control process, quality assurance and quality improvement, the problems of the company in quality management works are found. Against the problems found, improvement measures and countermeasures are formulated, so as to realize the upgrading of the company in quality management level.
