Keywords:Keywords: network, readning, purpose, way of teaching, information ability 1 1导言导言 通过阅读来提高英语水平,并获取相应信息是英语阅读课的主要任务。当今,随着网 络技术的发展,利用网络资源来学习英语将成为一种主要的学习方式。作为英语教师,如 何引导大学生充分利用网络资源来促进英语学习呢?本文拟就网络环境下英语阅读教学做 初步的探索。 2 2传统阅读教学的问题传统阅读教学的问题 21 阅读技巧无助词语理解 在传统阅读教学中,教师强调阅读技巧的训练,要求学生根据构词法、上下文等知识 猜测生词的意义。这种教学方式是否真正达到了教师的要求呢?我们对高职商务英语专业 二年级的两组学生进行了一次阅读测试。这些学生在高中阶段曾经接受过阅读训练,在大 学一年级也经过系统的阅读方法指导和训练。应该说对于阅读理解的技巧已经相当熟练了。 为了证明他们的阅读能力,我们设计了四个项目的测试: (一)运用前缀法识别词义。如: (1)No one can live for a millennium. How long is a millennium?“Millennium”means A. ten years B.one hundred years C.two hundred years D. one thousand yeaars (二)运用标点符号助解法推断词义。如:(2)Some people gullible easily cheated or tricked because they believe everything that others say. “Gullible” means (三)运用常识助猜法推断词义。如:(3)The flower will flourish when the sun gets warmer and the soft rain 专业好文档2falls more often. “Flourish” means (四)运用后缀法识别词义。如:(4)he young man was so bashful that he did not speak to the pretty girl. “Bashful ”means 其中,每个项目有 5 道题目,每题权重为 1 分。第一组(30 人)的任务是运用前缀法 和标点符号助解法推断词义,第二组(20 人)的任务是运用常识助猜法和后缀法识别词义。 所得结果如表(一)所示:表(一)结果 项目平均得分合格率运用前缀法识别 词义2.0641%运用标点符号助 解法推断词义1.326%运用常识助猜法 推断词义1.5531%运用后缀法识别 词义2.3547%以上四种阅读技巧都是常用的,也是训练的重点。按理说,运用标点符号助解法推断 词义是最容易的,因为后面已经提供了相应词语的解释。如 gullible 的意思就是 easily cheated or tricked。但是从测试所得结果来看,学生并没有因为接受了阅读技巧的训练 而达到对有关词语的正确理解。 22 学生使用词典也不会推断词义 在利用词典的情况下,学生是否可以正确词语的意义呢?我们也设计了一个测试。在 测试中,我们要求一组学生(32 人)利用词典找出划线部分单词的意义。如: (5)The State Intellectual Property Office is brewing a national intellectual property rights (IPRs) strategy, aiming to further upgrade Chinas knowledge creation and utilization. “Brewing” means 该测试共 5 道题目,每题权重 1 分。测试的结果是:平均得分为 1.7,合格率为 34%。 该结果表明,即使给学生提供了词典,他们也不能根据上下文对词语的意义做出正确的判 断。在传统阅读教学中,教师传授所谓的阅读技巧,要求学生尽量不使用词典。另外,阅 读材料和参考资料后面附有词汇表,提供每个单词、短语的解释,学生不需要再去查阅词典,一切都是现成的。其结果是,学生不会使用词典。离开了教师,学生自己不会正确理解词语和语句的意义。可见,传统阅读教学无法培养学生使用词典进行独立阅读的能力。 23 阅读考试偏离目标 传统阅读教学也强调培养学生通过阅读获取信息的能力,而事实上是怎样的呢?首先 让我们分析下面的一道阅读题:When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be extremely difficult to let go 专业好文档3of your anger. But forgiveness is possible - and it can be surprisingly helpful to your physical and mental health. Indeed, research has shown that people who forgive report more energy, better appetite (胃口) and better sleep patterns. “People who forgive show less anger and more hopefulness,“ says Dr. Frederic Luskin, who wrote the book Forgive for Good. “ So it can help save on the wear and tear on .our system and allow people to feel more energetic.“ So when someone has hurt you, calm yourself first. Take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, someone you love. Don t wait for an apology. “Many times the person who hurt you may never think of apologizing,“ says Dr. Luskin. “They may have wanted to hurt you or they just dont see things the same way. So if you wait for people to apologize, you could be waiting a very long time. “ Keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean accepting the action of the person who upset you. Mentally going over your hurt gives power to the person who brought you pain. Instead, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you. Finally, try to see things from the other person s perspective (视角). You may realize that he or she-was acting out of ignorance (无知) , fear - even love. To gain perspective, you may want to write a letter to yourself from that person s point of view.这篇文章的中心思想是告诉人们面对伤害时应该采取的态度及应对方法。阅读这篇文 章后,读者也会有两种态度。一是接受作者的观点,二是提出相反的观点。因此,阅读 这篇文章的目的是了解人们面对伤害时应该采取怎样的态度及采取怎样的应对方法,并 针对作者的观点,提出自己的观点。也就是说,读者阅读这篇文章是为了寻找面对伤害 时的各种观点,从而为提出自己的观点奠定基础。可是,这篇文章下面的几个题目却是 这样设计的: (6)The text is mainly written to explain A. how to keep yourself from being hurt B. how to stay mentally healthy C. how and when to remain calm D. why and how to pardon others (7)According to the writer, what is the right way to calm down after being hurt?
