This result has been recognized by FINA as the worlds third best time this year, fast enough to have won a gold medal in last years Barcelona World Championships. “It is my first international event,”said Ning, who later won a fourth gold medal in Incheon. “I am happy that my results are pretty close to my personal best.” Born in the central Chinese city of Zhengzhou,Ning entered the local team at the age of 11 and joined the navy team in 2007.He first caught peoples attention in 2009 when he finished eighth in the 200m individual medley at the National Games. Nevertheless, Ning suffered from bone infection in both knees for a long time, which made him unable to train hard on his kicks. He also had an indigestion problem and had to eat “soft” food which is easy to digest. His poor stomach even made it impossible for him to complete week-long full time training. But the young swimmer never gives up. His idol is the great Russian swimmer Alexander Popov, who continued to win Olympic gold medals after he was stabbed on a street. Ning said, “He was a real fighter and I need to learn from him.” Taken better care of by coaches and doctors, Ning can now train as normally as others. And that is why he can get todays achievements. The gold medals at the Asian Games also boosted the confidence of the new swimming star, who hopes to enter the national team and compete for China in more international events. “Chinese mens swimmers have never been placed among top eight in the short-distance freestyle,” he said. “I hope I can do it, just like what Sun Yang did in the mid-long distance freestyle.”21The best title could be _.A. It looked like a man of middle height, dressed in a big raincoat, a soft hat and rubber soled boots or shoes, and making little sound while walking: at most a soft, sliding sound. No one was in sight. It was a street with two rows of about fifty small houses, and there were three lamps on either side. The lamp nearest the childs house could be seen clearly, but the others were almost hidden by the smoky air. A car passed the end of the street and its lights showed faintly, but clearly enough the wrinkled skin of a womans small face. The car disappeared as the woman, wrapped up in her coat, reached the doorway of the childs house. She put a key into the lock quickly, pushed the door open and stepped inside, then close the door without looking round. She began to breathe hard. She leaned against the door for a moment, then straightened up as if with an effort, and walked towards the door of the front room, the passage leading to the kitchen, and the narrow staircase. She hesitated outside the door, and then went up the stairs, quickly but with hardly a sound. There was enough light from the narrow hall to show the four doors leading off a small landing. She pushed each door open in turn and shone a torch inside, and the light fell upon beds, walls, furniture, a bathroom band basin, a mirror which flashed brightness back; but this was not what the woman was looking for. She turned away and went downstairs and hesitated again at the foot of the stairs, then turned towards the kitchen. Clearly there was nothing there, or in the small wash-room, that she wanted. Two rooms 试卷第 3 页,总 8 页remained; the front room and a smaller one next to it. She opened the front room door. After a moment, she saw the childs bed and the child.25The lights of the car passing the end of the street showed that _. A. a woman was walking by he
