11Population problem may be one of the greatest challenges we are facing today .Now there are over six billion people on the earth. Each day, about 400,000 babies are born around the world. On the same day, about 140,000 people die. As it goes on, every year there are 95 more people on the earth. Most of the growth is taking place in Africa and parts of South and West Asia that can hardly afford more people. However , population increases have slowed or even stopped in Europe , North America and Japan. By 1960, about 70 percent 百分比 of the worlds people lived in developing countries .Today it is 80 percent, (8)and 95 percent of the worlds population growth is taking place in the developing countries.
