The difference between Hercules and HeraclesHercules is really fascinating and interesting movie. It is based on the story of Heracles, one of the greatest heroes in Greek mythology. However, there are too many differences between the Hercules in the movie and the Heracles in Greek mythology. I will go on to discuss these differences and end this discursion by offering my opinions on why Hercules remains a popular figure on todays big screens. Firstly, their births are described differently. , In the movie adaptation, Hercules was born a god, the son of the Zeus and his queen. They loved him so much that Zeus held a magnificent party to celebrate his birth, Gods from all corners of the cosmos came with magnicent gifts to laud Zeus on the birth of his son.In sharp contrast. Heracles in the original Greek mythology was not as fortunate as his big screen counterpart. Indeed, he was not the legitimate son of Zeus and when he was born, he was a mortal being instead of a god. Heracles was the son of Zeus and the mortal woman Alcmene, queen of Amphitryon. He had a twin mortal brother.Iphicles. Heracles and his brother Eurystheus had been in opposing camps ever since their birth, partly because of Hera, wife of Zeus. Secondly, in the movie, Hades, the king of underworld, was the main cause of Hercules misfortunate. However, in the original Greek lore, the true culprit behind Heracles troubles was Zeus wife Hera. When we watched the movie , we could easily tell that Hades longed to defeat Zeus and become the king of the universe However, someone told him that Hercules would his plans, so he made Hercules a mortal but failed at his attempt to kill the baby Hercules. In the Greek legend, the misfortune of Heracles was mainly caused by Hera. She took away Heracles birthright as Zeus heir and abandoned him in the brushwood. The twist of the story was that Hera breastfed Heracles, such that Heracles became full of strength Thirdly, in the movie, although Hercules stood apart from his peers due to his big strength, he spent his youth living a more or less ordinary existence in a village until; he realized that he was the son of Zeus. After this realization, he tried to find his father and become a god by finding a teacher who trained him to become a hero. In the mythology, Hera sent two serpents to kill Heracles as he laid in his cradle. However, Heracles caught a snake in each hand and was found by his nurse to be playing with them. After killing his music teacher, he was sent to tend cattle on a mountain. According to the prophecy “The Choice of Heracles”, he was visited by two nymphs-Pleasure and Virtue-who offered him a choice between a pleasant and easy life and a hard but glorious life. Heracles chose the latter. Fourthly, later in the movie, Hercules killed a monster and saved a beautiful girl with whom he fell in love at the first sight. However the girl was under the control of Hades, so Hades knew that Hercules was alive and he became great angry. Hades senta big monster kill Hercules, but it was killed by Hercules. To Hades surprise, Hercules became the hero in this city. It made Hades so angry that he carried out a lot of plans to kill Hercules, but he only managed to make Hercules lose his strength. Hades thought that Hercules no longer posed a threat, so he began to attack Zeus instead. However, the lover of Hercules helped him recover his strength. After that, Hercules saved Zeus and was offered the chance to become a real god. However, Hercules chose to be a mortalman and lived with his lover happily ever after. On the other hand, in the mythology, Heracles was directed to serve King Eurystheus for ten years and perform any task which Eurystheus demanded of him. Eurystheus decided to give Heracles ten tasks, but after Heracles completed them, Eurystheus reneged on his promise and added two more such that Heracles had to12 quests altogether.The twelve Labours of Heracles were: 1. Slay the Nemean Lion. 2. Slay the nine-headed Lernaean Hydra. 3. Capture the Golden Hind of Artemis. 4. Capture the Erymanthian Boar. 5. Clean the Augean stables in a single day. 6. Slay the Stymphalian Birds. 7. Capture the Cretan Bull. 8. Steal the Mares of Diomedes. 9. Obtain the girdle of Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons. 10. Obtain the cattle of the monster Geryon. 11. Steal the apples of the Hesperides. 12. Capture and bring back Cerberus. Fifthly, in the movie, Hercules only had one lover with whom he fell in love at first sight. In order to live with her, he gave up his chance to become a god and chose instead remained a mortal. In the myth, however, Heracles married four times in his lifetime. His first marriage with Megara ended because he killed their children in hismadness. His second wife was Lydian queen Omphale, whom he served as a slave. His third marriage was with Deianira , He wrestled with Achelous in order to be with her. Achelous became cattle to gore
