This123d is currently not available in the E87.Chassis/dynamic driving systemsAs another member of the BMW 1 Series, the E82 has many features in common with the E87 as far as the chassis and dynamic driving systems are concerned. The innovations featured on the E82 and the differences in comparison to the E87 are briefly described here.Chassis and running gearThe front and rear axles of the E82 are for the most part identical to those of the E87. The rear axle of the E82 is fitted with modified wheel hubs.As a result, the rear track width of the E82 has been widened by 20 mm in comparison to the E87. The exposed wheel housings combine with the wider track width at the rear to emphasize this vehicle s rear-wheel drive.The springs and dampers have been specifically adapted to the E82 in terms of engine and car weight. They differ, therefore, from those in the E87. In the interests of weight, the front axle of the E82 is fitted with a tube-type anti-roll bar. Sports suspension tuning is available as an option.Tyreswithoptimizedrollingresistancefeature among the range of measures designed to reduce CO2 emissions. E82 vehicles for the Europeanmarketwillbefittedwiththesetyres as standard.The following steering systems are fitted in E82 vehicles: Electromechanical power steering (EPS- APA, previously fitted, for example, in the E92): fitted as the standard steering in all E82 vehicles delivered in ACEA markets (exception: 135i). Conventional rack-and-pinion steering with hydraulic pump (vane cell pump): this is the standard steering for vehicles outside ACEA markets and for the 135i. Active Steering with hydraulic pump and ECO valve: available as an option for all engines used in the E82.
