Changes in terms of environmental protection, customer benefits and design render necessary continuous development of systems and components. Consequently, this may result in deviations between this product information and the vehicles available in the training course. This document relates exclusively to left-hand drive vehicles with Europe specifications. Some controls or components are in part arranged differently in right-hand drive vehicles than shown on the graphics in the product information. Further differences may arise as the result of the equipment variants used in specific markets or countries.Additional sources of informationFurther information on the individual subjects can be found in the following:- Owner s Handbook- MINI diagnostic system- Workshop systems documentationContents. Park Distance Control R56.Preparation for training Source of reference in practical applicationsThis Product Information is designed to provide you with fundamental information on thefunctionandoperationoftheparkdistance control.AfterworkingthroughtheProductInformation you will know that the park distance control is a self-contained system. You will learn what conditions are necessary for activation of the park distance control. You will also be able to identify the control units that acquire the signals from the park distance control system and provide the necessary displays. The Summary section towards the end of the Product Information allows you to consolidate the acquired information in concise form. The subsequent test questions will consolidate what you have learned. They alsoprovide you with the opportunity for testing yourself on the subject matter of this Product Information. The technical training course with its practical exercises, in which you participated, will enableyoutoperformservicejobsonthepark distance control in the R56. 3TheProductInformationisanintegralpart of the Aftersales training concept. It is suitable as a self-study aid while also serving as a detailed source of reference. 12233Introduction. Park Distance Control R56.Park distance controlThe park distance control (PDC) is a distance warning system that provides both visual and audible information on the distance to the nearest obstacle when parking and driving out of spaces. The distance to the nearest obstacle is measured by means of four sensors fitted in the rear bumper.Depending on the equipment configuration, the signal tones are produced and output by means of the existing audio system or by means of a separate piezospeaker specifically installed for the PDC.The frequency of the signal increases as the distance to the obstacle decreases. A permanent tone signal is output in close proximity to obstacles. When the vehicle is equipped with the corresponding option, the graphic distance signalling is shown on the central information display.PDC is optionally available in the R56 as variant SA507 PDC, rear. The following changes/new features have been implemented compared to the predecessor models: New transducers and new control unit Graphic representation of distance to obstacles Audible signalling via speaker (depending on equipment variant)PDC is optionally available in the R56 as variant SA507 PDC, rear.4354System overview. Park Distance Control R56.Schematic circuit diagram R56The schematic circuit diagram shows which control units and actuators are used for the PDC function. In addition, the table of signalsprovides an ov
