Classroom Procedures and ExpectationsMr. Hennessee Lexington Middle SchoolWELCOMElWere going to have a Wonderful year together.lHave Positive Expectations!lThe Procedures we learn today will help us create a Highly Efficient and Orderly Classroom. Why Procedures?lWithout procedures, students do not know what is expected of them.lProcedures facilitate efficiency.lHuman Nature is to have procedures.Arrival to ClasslWhen you arrive at our class, I will greet you in the hallway.lStudents will line up along the wall quietly and we will enter class together.lWhen you enter the classroom please be seated at your assigned computer terminal.lPrepare yourself for the class.When Class Begins (Bell)lThe bell ringing is a procedure to tell you that it is time to begin class.lAt the bell, you are to begin your warm-up exercise. Your warm-up exercise is Journal Writing. The Journal Writing Topic will be written on the board each day.lThere should be no talking or moving about during Journal Writing.Journal Writing ProcedureslLeave Font size, type and color as is Times New Roman, Black, 12 pointslWrite in complete sentences.lWrite about the assigned subject.lWrite until you are asked to close and save your document.lUse correct grammar.lSilence in the room during Journal Writing.General Classroom Expectations lRespect others personal space including not touching others.lBe respectful of everyone and everything.lStand and Deliver using Proper Grammar.lDo not surf the Internet unless you are instructed to do so.lAllow others to finish speaking before you start speaking.Expectations During InstructionlPlease give the teacher your full attention.lDo not talk while the teacher is talking. lPlease wait to be recognized by the teacher before you begin speaking.lDo not start assignments until the teacher gives you the signal to begin.Expectations During TeamslYou will be assigned to a team.lWithin your team you will be assigned a duty. For example; facilitator, liaison, reporter, etc.lNo side-bar conversations during team activities, all team members focused on the task at hand.lYou must contribute proportionately to your team.PromptslIf I raise my hand, you are to stop talking, face me, and also raise your hand until everyone in the classroom has stopped talking and I lower my hand.NO EXCEPTIONSEnd of Class DismissallI will inform you when it is time for class dismissal.lUpon dismissal, you should save your work in the designated folder.lClean-up your work area and line up quietly, in a straight line by the file cabinets.lI will then give you permission to leave the classroom.Behavior Discipline Proceduresl1st Offense - Verbal Warningl2nd Offense - Written Warning and Consultationl3rd Offense - Call to Parentsl4th Offense - Office ReferralSchool Rules and PolicieslAll school rules as outlined in your student handbook will be enforced.lAttendance policy will be as defined in your student handbook.My Promise to You!lWe will have a great year together.lProcedures and Expectations will enhance your learning experience.lI will give you my very best everyday and ask the same from you in return.
