Squat only on squatting toilets (蹲厕) , pedestal toilets (坐厕) are for sitting on only. Keep the Toilet Clean Avoid messing the toilet seat. If you do, clean up after yourself properly. The toilet brush is for cleaning the inside of the toilet bowl after you have used the toilet.Keep the Toilet Clean Check whether you need to use it. Dont leave it for someone else to clean up after you.Dont Remove Shoes Dont remove shoes and socks in public. Removing shoes and socks in public is considered impolite by many Westerners.In spite of this, it is often found that outbound Chinese tourists remove their shoes and socks in the tourist areas in order to have a good rest after walking for a long time or to cool themselves in hot weather.Dont Remove Shoes With some of them having foot odor ( 味道), it can be a total disregard (漠 视) for other peoples feelings.Dont Remove Shoes Dont blow your nose in public. Blowing your nose in public is considered highly offensive (无礼的). If you have the sniffles (鼻塞) or are stuffed up, it is best to excuse yourself and blow your nose in a rest room.Dont Blow Your NoseDont take pictures when a sign says “No Photography.” If photography is not permitted, it will usually be indicated by a pictogram (象形图) of a camera with a red line across it.No PhotographySo when you see the “no photography” signs, stop taking pictures. If in doubt, ask for clarification (说明). This shows respect and will very seldom be met with anything other than a helpful response.No PhotographyWear proper clothes. In China, it is not uncommon to see men in pajamas (睡衣裤) and women in nightgowns (睡袍) at busy markets or walking around in the street or hotel lobbies.Get Dressed ProperlyHowever, the behavior mentioned above can lead to great embarrassment in foreign countries. For Westerners, it is impolite to be seen in public wearing pajamas. They can find this very disconcerting (令人 尴尬).Get Dressed ProperlyDont wear shorts or skirts when visiting a mosque (清真寺) or in a Muslim (穆斯林) country or a temple in southeastern countries like Thailand or Myanmar (缅甸). Get Dressed ProperlyYou are required to wear a hijab (穆斯 林妇女戴的面纱或头巾) like a Muslim woman and take off your shoes or sandals (凉鞋) when entering a mosque.Get DressedProperlyDonts in a Hotel Room Dont polish (擦亮) your shoes with bed sheet (床单) or hotel towel. Remember that a hotel room is not your private home and is usually expected to be used by someone else in the near future.Keep the Hotel Room CleanTaking care of the stuff in the room doesnt take a lot of efforts and will cut down the work housekeeping staff must do to prepare for the next guest.Keep the Hotel Room CleanHaving good hotel manners can not only show respect to others but also earn respect from others.Keep the Hotel Room CleanBut you are not supposed to help yourself to the other things such as hotel towels, ash tray, bath robes as well as the items in the minibar.Keep the Stuff in the RoomAll the items except for the complimentary (赠送的) mineral water in the minibar are supposed to be offered with certain prices. Pay the price for the item you have taken when checking out. Keep the Stuff in the RoomDonts at a RestaurantEat quietly. You may be a part of a fun group, but when you are sitting in a restaurant, it is advisable not to talk loudly and disturb others.Eat QuietlyLoud eating noises such as slurping (咕嘟地喝) and burping ( 打嗝) are also very impolite. Besides, dont toss (扔) unwanted food or dirty napkins on the floor.Eat QuietlyExercise some self-control at a buffet (自助餐). A buffet is not a competition to see who can take the greatest amount of food at one time.Dont Waste FoodTake a moderate (有节制的) amount of food for a normal serving so that food is not wasted. If you want to eat more, make sure you do it on the second round instead of carrying your plate with a full load on the first round.Dont Waste FoodReflectionTrue or False?
