Patients with recent transient ischemic attack and/or cerebrovascular ischemic stroke had more intense contrast-agent enhancement in the plaque than those without symptoms, suggesting that contrast-enhanced carotid ultrasound imaging may be used as a routine method for plaque risk stratification.,
