This ski-system uses a novel sledge type design unlike the existing mono-ski design. The design has two ski plates and a rotation mechanism operated by the skiers hands. The rotation mechanism is introduced such that beginner skiers can easily turn by the parallel technique and stop by the snowplow technique in a similar fashion to legs-able persons. A skiing robot was used to study the optimal angle of the rotation axis and the best position of the center of gravity about the whole ski-system. Based on the experimental results with the skiing robot, the new ski-system was developed. It was found that repeated parallel turns and the stable snowplow could be realized by this ski-system.
