That office boy became the first person ever to appear on the television!,Baird was educated at a technical college and the University of Glasgow. It was there that he first had the idea of transmitting pictures. His poor health prevented him from active service during WWI. When the BBC made the first television broadcast in 1936, American equipment was used. When it started its television service again the Second World War, the BBC used equipment from Bairds own company. John Baird died in 1945 and did not live to see television enter many houses in Britain.,
