It can create a partnership, even a rapport between the school and families. Initiating open communication with parents encourages them to attend conferences and take an active role in the education of their children. During the conference, teachers should give an overall picture of how the students are doing in school, address some issues and answer any question that parents have about their children. As a teacher, especially the head teacher of a class, we sometimes need have a public speech at the conference. Parents can get some information about the class and the students from your speech.Imagine that you were an English teacher for Grade 3 of a primary school as well as the head teacher of a class, and that it were the end of the semester.Write a Speech that will be addressed in the opening ceremony of the new semester or in the parent-teacher conference.,Part I Knowledge Bank,According to the following steps, you can get an effective speech.Step 1 Write down the following information, including the purpose of the speech, length of time you are given, audience and the defining theme of the speech. And try to answer the following questions:What are you trying to achieve with this speech? What do you want the end result of this speech to be?What do you expect the listeners to feel and think about your speech? And what will they do or change?Step 2 Begin with an introduction that establishes who you are, what your purpose is, what you ll be talking about and how long you re going to take. You may want to include a joke, anecdote or interesting fact to grab the audience s attention.,Part I Knowledge Bank,Step 3 Determine your opening and closing statements. Sometimes it is easier to write the opening and closing after the body of the speech is complete.Step 4 Organize your information into three to seven main points and prioritize them according to importance and effectiveness. Delete points that aren t crucial to your speech if you have too many for your time frame.Step 5 Write the body of your speech. Start with your most important point, then go to your least important point and move slowly back toward the most important. For example, if you have five points with No. 5 being the most important and No. 1 being the least important, your presentation order would be 5- 1- 2- 3- 4. Be sure to state why you have chosen the topic of the speech.Step 6 Add support to each point using statistics, facts, examples, anecdotes, quotations or other supporting materials that further the effectiveness of the speech.,Part I Knowledge Bank,Step 7 Link your introduction, points and conclusions together with smooth transitions.Step 8 Write a conclusion that summarizes each of your points, restates your main purpose and leaves the audience with a lasting impression. The closing is an important part of the speech. The closing brings the audience back to the opening statement and enforces the body of the speech. Think of the closing as one thing you want to leave the audience thinking or doing.Step 9 Rewrite your speech several times until it feels right to you. Read the speech to yourself aloud at least 3 times to make sure that it flows naturally and sounds persuasive. If it does, then you have done what you needed to do.,Part II Editing & Revising by Yourself,Having finished the Writing Task, you have got 1st draft.
