为了适应公司新战略的发展,保障停车场安保新项目的正常、顺利开展,特制定安保从业人员的业务技能及个人素质的培训计划红字读书报告TheScarletLetterbyNathanielHawthorneisaclassicalnovelinAmericanliteratureinthe19thcentury.SincethefirstChinesetranslationofTheScarletLetterappearedinthe1950sscholarsandreadersinthiscountryhaveshownanever-increasinginterestinhisworks.ItsimmortalenchantmentliesinnotonlyitscondemnationofthenegativeimpactofPuritansocietyonpeoplesspirit,butalsoitsaffirmationofgoodness.ThenovelaimsatcriticizingseverelyPuritanicalasceticism,suggestingHawthornesfurtherthinkingovertheoriginalsingoodandevilsoulsalvationtotaldepravitybyanalyzingthefourmaincharactersinthenovel.Thenovelconcernstheconsequencecausedbythesinandpeoplesattitudetowardssinratherthanthesinitself.Hebelievesmancandogooddeedstogetridofevilinhisheart.Theintroductionoftheauthor:Hawthornewasbornin1804,thetownofSalem,Massachusetts,adeclineoffamily.HisPuritanancestorshadparticipatedinthepersecutionofhereticswasanevent.Hawthornesfatherwasacaptain,inhisdeathatage4.1821,becauseofHawthornerelativesisfundingintotheInstituteofHakata.Hegraduatedfromtheschoolin1825.BacktotheSalemTownheworksinwriting.HawthornesshortstoriesaremostlydrawnfromtheNewEnglandhistoryorreallife,focusingonthefateofhumanityandhumanproblems.TheScarletLetterwaswrittenin1851.AreasonabledescriptionofmarriagebytheyoungwomanboundfortheCalvinistsareguiltyofadulterywasprohibitedpublicdisplay,exposedthesystemwasundertheruleofcolonialpoliticsandreligioninsomeofthedarkness.19th-centurynovelrevealstheeraofcapitalistdevelopment,theUnitedStatesCode,thelawofsocialcruelty,religiousdeceptionandmoralhypocrisy.Thestoryisfollowedlikethis:TheprotagonistofthenovelwasayoungwomannamedHesterwhowaspunishedtowearthescarletletter“A”tosignifythatshewasanhusband,Chillingworth,wasascholarmucholderthansenthertoAmericabuthehimselffailedtowaitingforherhusband,Hesterfellinlovewithalocalyoungministernamedhadanaffairwithhimandlatergavebirthtoshewasshamedpubliclyonthetownscaffold,shestillrefusedtorevealherloversordertopunishher,peopleforcedhertowearthescarletthen,sheandherdaughterPearllivedinacottageattheedgeoftheforestandwasalienatedbytherestofthe,thisputherinaspecialpositiontoobserveandthinkaboutthelover,theyoungminister,lackedcouragetoconfesshissinpublicly,feltguiltyandtormentedhimselfbothmentallyandthisgraduallyruinedhisthesametime,ChillingworthdisguisedhimselfasadoctorandstayedinDimmesdalesthesakeofrevenge,hetriedveryhardtofindouttheconnectionbetweentheministersanguishandHesters,HesterrevealedChillingworthstrueidentitytoDimmesdaleandaskedhimtoescapetoEuropetheplainwasdestroyedbywickedtheend,DimmesdaleconfessedhisadulterywithHesterinhislasttoreawayhisministerialgarmentsandrevealedhisbreast,onwhichtherewasasamemarkasthescarletweretotallyshockedandtheministerfellontothescaffoldandhisdeath,Chillingworthwasleftwithnoobjectforhisrevenge,hewastedawayandsoon,HesterandPearlmadethestoryofscarletlettergrowintoayearslater,Hestersuddenlyreturnedtothetownandresumedhercharitythetimeofherdeath,shestillworethescarletletteronher,itwasnolongerthesymbolofshamebutthesymbolofableandangle.Theanalysisofthenovel:TheScarletLetteralsohasliterialandsymbolicmeanings,anditsmeaningshiftsastimegoes,itintendstomarkHesterasanadulterer,itsasymbolofattheendofthestory,itbecomesapowerfulsocialidentityofchangedthemeaningofthescarletletterinpeoplesmindthroughherowneffort:acceptingtheassignedidentityandreconfriguratingitwithquietperseveranceandinnermaincharactersofthenovelthattheauthorfigureselaboratelyallhavespecial,theheroineofthenovel,isanintelligent,strong-willedandkind-heartedyoungwomanwhoacceptshersinbravelyandfinallychangesherunfair,anadmirableandrespectfulministerofthetownpeople,functionsmainlyasacontrasttoHester.Towardtheirsin,HesterchoosestoacceptitandreconfigurateDimmesdaledoesntdaretoconfessitpublicly,itmakeshimfeelguiltyandsufferendlessphysicalandspiritualtorment,deathistheonlythingthatcanrelievethedifferentfatesofHesterandDimmesdale,wecanseethecentralideathattheauthorwantstopresenttous,namely,therelationshipbetweensinandstandsforthesocial-definedidentityofpeople,whilehumanityisourself-definedwayinwhichthesocietydefinesapersonisoftenatoddswiththewaythatindividualsdefinefact,sinitselfisbothguiltyactandanactofaffaction,itsaproblematiccombinationofloveandevil.Throughtheconnectionandconflictofsinandhumanity,weunderstandthemoralstrengthofhumanbeings.Understandingofthenovel:Fromthestory,wecanseethattheheroeslivearather-die-than-livelife,andunderstandthemeaningoflivinganddeathinHawthornemindthatistolivingistosufferingandtoatoneforcrimeswhiletodieistogetrelieffromsinsandrebirthinotherworld.Inoursociety,theterm“evil”hasbeenreplacedbytermssuchas“madness”or“insanity”.Peopleseemtofeeltheneedtounderstandthemindsofperpetratorofevilacts.Inasocietywithoutasingleandsolidmoralitysystem,wehumanbeingsareendowedwithexceptionalfreedominconsciousandbehaviour,butweshouldalsotakemoreresponsibilityforourselvesandtheothersinthesociety.文法分院
