ToyotaProductionSystem(TPS)TPSDefinitionTheToyotaProductionSystem(TPS)isanintegratedsocio-technicalsystem,developedbyToyota,thatcomprisesitsmanagementphilosophyandpractices.TheTPSorganizesmanufacturingandlogisticsfortheautomobilemanufacturer,includinginteractionwithsuppliersandcustomers.TPSHistoryThesystemisamajorprecursorofthemoregeneric“Leanmanufacturing.“Toyotadevelopedthesystembetween1948and1975.Originallycalled“WJustInTimeProduction,“itbuildsontheapproachcreatedbythefounderofToyota.TPSOriginsToyotareceivedtheirinspirationforthesystem,onavisittoaPigglyWiggly,thedelegationwasinspiredbyhowthesupermarketonlyreorderedandrestockedgoodsoncetheyhadbeenboughtbycustomers:.ToyotaappliedthelessonfromPigglyWig宁麝/byreducingtne8mountofinventaryiheywouholdonlytoalevelthatitsemployeeswouldneedforasmallperiodoftime,andthensubsequentlyreorder.。Thiswouldbecometheprecursorofthenow-famousJust-in-Time(JI)inventorysystem.TPSGoals。ThemainobjectivesoftheTPSaretodesignoutoverburdenandinconsistency,andtoeliminatewaste.。Themostsignificanteffectsonprocessvaluedeliveryareachievedbydesigningaprocesscapableofdeliveringthereauiredresuitssmoothly;bydesigningoutinconsistency.ltisalsocrucialtoensurethattheprocessisasflexibleasnecessarywithoutstressoroverburdensincethisgenerateswaste.TPSGoalsTherearesevenkindsofwastethatareaddressedintheTPS:-over-production-motion(ofoperatorormachine)-waiting(ofcperatorormachine)conveyance-processingitself-inventory(rawmaterial)-correction(reworkandscrap)TPSGoalsTheeliminationofwastehascometodominatethethinkingofmanywhentheylookattheeffectsoftheTPSbecauseitisthemostfamiliarofthethreetoimplement.IntheTFSmanyinitiaiivesaretriggeredbyoverburdenandinconsistencyreductionwhichdrivesoutwastewithoutspecificfocusonitsreduction.TPSPrinciplesTheunderlyingprinciples,calledtheToyotaWay,havebeenoutlinedbyToyotaasfollows:ContinuousImprovementChallenge(Weformalong-termvision,meetingchallenge3withcourageandcreatiyitytorealizeourdreams.)Kaizen(Weimproveourbusinessoperationscontinuously,alwaysdrivingforinnovationandevolution.)TPSPrinciplesGiotothesourcetofindthefactstomakecorrectdecisions:.RespectforPeopleRespectothers,makeeveryefforttounderstandeachother,takeresponsibilityanddoourbesttobuildmutualtrust.TeamworkStimulatspersonalandproiessionalgrowth,sharetheopportunitiesofdevelopmentandmaximizeindividualandteamperformance.Long-termphilosophyBaseyourmanagementdecisionsonalong-termphilosophy,evenattheexpenseofshort-termfinancialgoals.TPSPrinciplesTherightprocesswillproducetherightresultsCreatecontinuousprocessflowtobringproblemstothesurfaceUsethe“pullsystemtoavoidoverproductionLevelouttheworkioad.Buildacultureofstoppingtofixproblems,togetqualityrightfromthefirstStandardizedtasksarethefoundationforcontinuousimprovementandemploy3eempowelmentUsevisualcontrolsonopioblermsaichiddsnUseonlyreliable,thoroughlytestedtechnologythatservesyourpeopleandprocesses.AddvaluetotheorganizationbydevelopingyourpeopleandpartnersGrowleaderswhothoroughlyunderstandtheworklivethephilosophy,andteachittoOthers.
