The Educational Thoughts of Confucius,Introduction,Born in the village of Zon in the country of Lu in 551BC Died in 479BC Position:The first educator of private school Main doctrineRen, Founder of the Confucian school and Confucianism Symbol of Chinese culture, Thinker Educator Statesman Philosopher,Confucius is famous for his philosophy because he made many wise sayings in ancient China that helped many people learn about nature, the world, and the human behavior.,He established first private school in China and accepted the students from everywhere. Subjects: Manners, Music, Literature, Riding, Archery and Mathematics (礼,乐,射,御,书,数) He have 3000 students. Among them, 72 became famous scholars.,The Analects is the single most important book in the history of China,which express a philosophy, or a moral code, by which Confucius, one of the most humane thinkers of all time, believed everyone should live. An enduring classic of Chinese culture, The Analects has influenced all thinkers, writers and politicians in the over 2,000-year-long history of China after Confucius. No scholar could truly understand this long-standing culture or the inner world of the ancient Chinese without this book.,The Analects,Philosophy,Benevolence, to be humanity, mercy and kindness;,Justness, to be righteousness,Rituals, custom and low, to be polite,Wisdom, to be knowledgeable and well educated,Royalty, faithful, reliable, accountable, responsible, creditable,I will not be afflicted at mens not knowing me; I will be afflicted that I do not know men. 不患人之不己知,患不知人也,What one does not wish for oneself, one ought not to do to anyone else; what one recognizes as desirable for oneself, one ought to be willing to grant to others.“,The persons being cultivated, the families were regulated. 身修而后家齐,The families being regulated, the States were rightly governed. 家齐而后国治,The States being rightly governed, the entire world was at peace. 国治而后天下平,Educational Thoughts,Confucius was Chinas first educator. He taught students all his life, and put forward many important educational principles and effective teaching methods. He held that all men were educable, because by nature men were quite alike, and they were made different by learning and practice.,He was the first figure in Chinese history to initiate education. He believed the basic goal of education was to cultivate “persons of virtue“, who should have sound character and uplifted minds.,This was in his day an epoch-making view, because it meant that not only the nobles,but people of all other classes,were entitled to receive education. His teaching methods included the eliciting method, giving instructions according to students peculiarities, and combining theory with reality and practice. To deepen his students, understanding, he discussed with them real people and events of earlier times and his day, expressing his own views, making analys, pointing out their strengths and weaknesses, and urging his students to weigh and decide issues.,Education target: the first person to open a private school to common people Course content morality, proper speech, government, the refined arts Pedagogical methods: He poses questions, or uses apt analogies, and waits for his students to arrive at the right answers. That is why he is called Wen”.,子贡问曰:“孔文子何以谓之文也?”子曰:“敏而好学,不耻下问,是以谓之文也。”,Influence,The Confucian thoughts have a wide influence in all the nations of East Asia.
