And there are so many scholars to learn and translate it. And it has played an important role in the world. -One of The analects of Confucius was translated by Ku Hung-ming (1815-1897), who was a Chinese culture scholar educated in western counties and the other translated by James Legge(1815-1897), who was a famous British sinologist .,Significances of the research,when we translate some works, we should take all aspects into consideration .especially Chinese culture. It needs us to pay much attention to the deeply meanings. When we translate the works we cant pay much eyes on the surface.,A comparative analysis on the English versions translated by Ku hung-Ming and James Legge,The characteristics in similarity 1. They take thought as well as history background and life condition into account as the starting point of their thoughts. 2. to use the simple sentences to express . The characteristics in differences 1. Ku has a detail realization on to Chinese history, and the translation strategies will coincide with readers. 2. James Legge the understanding meaning is not prefund.,3.1.2The translating strategy of LUNYU by GU Hong-Ming -As for Ku Hung-ming, he deliberately prefers domestication translation, regarding the well-cultivated foreigners as the target readers. - he quotes the notes European writers words to do explanatory notes, which makes the analects much appealing to western people with sense of familiarity and gets their reading desire arise naturally . - he replaces all the numerous names of Confucian disciples with “a disciple of Confucius” for these name are new and add to the west The translating strategy of LUNYU by James Legge -On Legges translation with the content, the writing style, religious favor and consciousness orientation of original text are to a great degree preserved by James . -this maintain the original meaning and style the analects, proving idiomatic translation text for his target readersmissionaries who come from to china to do missionary work, which world be convenient for them to read and get acquainted With Chinese culture so as to better promote his works.,Research purposes,this thesis focuses on a contrast study on the English versions under the Chinese culture of “孝“(the piety filial),explaining and exploring different characteristics and features so as to introduce Chinese culture to the world, This thesis selected eight sentences from the analects of Confucius to explore and compare the translation methods, the translation strategies and the culture.,Comparative the differences on the culture in the Confucius,4.1 Religious culture 1.Christianity 2.Buddhism 4.1.1 Background information 1.
