Journey to the West,One of the Four Great classical Chinese novels .,一、Journey to the West,Journey to the west is a historic Chinese novel that is considered one of the four classics from the Ming Dynasty. These novels along with the golden lotus water margins as well as the romances of the three kingdoms have won popular acclaim from generation to generation. Journey to the west is a combination of myth parable and comedy. It is a story about a Buddhist monk and bunch of animals with human characteristic. The animals actually in the story are a very fairy tale type of mood and they traveled west to India to find Buddhist scriptures. The animals themselves are celestial being in mortal forms and they have magical powers that protect them from the goblins and the evil spirits.,The author :Wu Chenen,1510- 1582,Wu Chengen was born in Lianshui, Jiangsu Province, and later moved to nearby Huaian. His father, Wu Rui, had had a good primary education and “shown an aptitude for study.“ but ultimately spent his life as an artisan because of his familys financial difficulties. Nevertheless, Wu Rui continued to “devote himself to literary pursuits,“ and as a child Wu acquired the same enthusiasm for literature-including classical literature, popular stories, and anecdotes. He took the imperial examinations several times in attempt to become a mandarin, or imperial official, but failed, and did not gain entry into the imperial university in Nanjing until middle age. After that he did become an official and had postings in both Beijing and Changxing County, but he did not enjoy his work, and eventually resigned, probably spending the rest of his life writing stories and poems in his hometown. During this time he became an accomplished writer, producing both poetry and prose, and becoming friends with several prominent contemporary writers. Wu remained poor throughout his life, however, and did not have any children; dissatisfied with the political climate of the time and with the corruption of the world, he spent much of his life as a hermit.,Background:A true story of a Chinese monk, Xuan Zang to fetch back some Buddhist scriptures,As for the historical record of journey to the west lets go back to the Tang dynasty. History actually recalls the Buddhist monk master Shan-chang or master Xuan Zhuang who crossed he mighty desert to reach the India continent during the Tang dynasty. 19 years later he came back to china with over 600 Buddhist scriptures. So the factual basis of journey to the west was born. For me, I cant refuse the request while tang refused. In my eye, tang love the woman and I can see that in his eye. Just because he want to complete the task.
