The landscape for this development will serve as multiple-role spaces for living, recreation and leisure, making it the connective and communal fabric that threads together the development, helping it achieve a collective sense of what characterize the idea of “Village“ .,EDAW based its design approach on exploring the nature and qualities of what traditional “Village“ living means within a contemporary context,or one that considers the needs and amenities of modern living,EDAE then created a five-point design approach that focused on gardens, simplicity, environment, landscape and recreation,These ideas have been developed to create opportunities for interaction-as places for the people-where children play, seniors gather and neighbors become friends。 playing with the dynamic between interior and exterior spatial relationships, and creating opportunities for life indoors to extend outward into the gardens, courtyards and lanes,Through creating nuance and implied circumstances in the gardens, the design uses indirect or subtle events that allow for the possibility and experiences of surprise and discovery It is important to consider that these ideas are not intended to recreate a traditional village, but to incorporate its many assets:its artfulness, its sense of style, space and proportion, as well its ability to create a sense of place and community,Shenyang Architecture University Campus,80 hectares suburban campus for Shenyang Architectural University the new site for the proposed campus was originally a rice field, the origin of the famous “Northeast Rice“,. only about one US dollar per square meter was allocated for landscaping. 320,000 sq m of new university buildings .,The concept of this design seeks to use rice, native plants and crops to keep the landscape productive while also fulfilling its new role as an environment for learning raise awareness of land and farming the dialogue of sustainable development and food production Management and student participation become part of the productive landscape The farming processes can potentially become a laboratory for students and the faculty,Shenyang Architectural University Campus, Taizhou City, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China Peking University Graduate School of Landscape Architecture and Turenscape, China Productive landscape and a beautiful landscape . . . this will put the students directly in touch with agriculture . biggest stroke is to put test plots in the middle of campus. 2005 Professional Awards Jury Comments,In March of 2002, the Shenyang City in North Chinas Liaoning Province commissioned the designer to create a new, 80 hectares suburban campus for Shenyang Architectural University. Originally located downtown, the university was established in 1948 and played an important role in educating architects and civil engineers for the city of Shengyang and for the country as well. But due to a recent dramatic national surge of interest in architecture in China, the enrollment of the school ballooned, creating congestion and overcrowding in its downtown, urban location. After much deliberation, the school decided the best solution was to move the entire campus to the suburbs. This project is one portion of the campus at the southwest side of the campus, with an area of 3 hectares.,The design had to contend with the following existing site conditions and budgetary limitations: Former agricultural use Small budget Short timeline,The concept of this design seeks to use rice, native plants and crops to keep the landscape productive while
