东华大学校史馆讲解队管理制度 wusthistorymuseum（oct.20.2021） goodmorning/afternoon/evening，distinguishedguests，ladiesandgentlemen。welcometothewuhanuniversityofscienceandtechnologyhistorymuseum.iamhighlyhonoredtobeyourguide，andwouldbeverypleasedtohelpyoutogettoknowabouthowouruniversityhasdevelopedintowhatitisnow. thismuseumhas5halls，andwearenowintheintroductionhall.thishallistoillustratethepedagogicalideasweupholdandtheeducationalphilosophywefollow.ifyoulookstraightahead，wecanseeouruniversitylogoontheceiling;thewhitepartofthislogoisintheshapeofaboat，whichissailingonthebluesea.thislogoindicatesthedevelopmentofouruniversitywillbesmoothandswift.ontheright，itisabriefsketchofthehistoricaldevelopmentofouruniversity，togetherwithourphilosophyofschooling;ouruniversityhasaprofoundhistorywhichspansmorethan100years.andtheuniversityanthemisontheleft.nowwewillpresentyouthisantheminchinese.（扬子江边黄家湖畔）ouruniversitymottoishere：“virtue，erudition，practicalityandsteadiness”.theseexhibitionsaretodemonstrateouruniversitysstrongassociationwiththeironandsteelindustryandthespiritofouruniversity，whichhasbeensummarizedas“perseveranceinhardships，readinessforduty，endeavorforexcellence，andconsistencyinwordsanddeeds”. now，wouldyoupleasefollowmetothesecondsection。there，weshallseethe“incubationyears”ofouruniversity.wuhanuniversityofscienceandtechnology，orwust，datesbacktothehubeigongyixuetang（hubeitechnicalinstitute）in1898foundedbyzhangzhidong（1837-1909），governorgeneralofhubei，hunan，guangdongandguangxiprovincesinthelateqingdynasty.thisisgovernorzhangandhisapplicationdocumenttotheemperorforapprovaloftheschoolfounding.hubeitechnicalschoolwasoneoftheearliestofitskindinchinaofferingtechnicaleducation，anditmarksthefirstpageofouruniversity.itscampusatthattimewaslocatedintodayswuchangdistrict，whichishereonthemap，about15kilometersawayfromhere. thetileherewasusedfortheconstructionofhubeitechnicalschool，ithasalsobeenawardedasthenationalculturalrelic.therearealltogether26itemsinthismuseumhavewonthistitle.duetohistoricalreasons，hubeitechnicalschoolmoveditscampusseveraltimesandchangeditsnamemorethanonce.duringthisperiod，manywell-knownscientistsandscholarstaughtintheschool，includinglisiguang，ageologist;amongitsfamousstudentswerezhaoshimei，themakeroftherevolutionaryflaginthewuchanguprisingofthe1911revolution;thereareotherprofessorsbeingtheteachersofouruniversity.baoding，anarchitect;helvting，amusician;andpanliangru，ascientist.inthesummerof1938，whentheinvadingjapanesearmyapproachedtowuhan，forthesafetyofitsteachersandstudents，hubeitechnicalschoolmergedwithotherschoolsandbecametheadvancedindustrybranchschoolofhubeiunitedschool，whichmovedfirsttowesternhubei，latertosichuan，andfinallysettledinenshiprefectureofhubeiprovince.andthisistheanthemofhubeiunitedschool，thelyricsofwhichreflectsthestudentsandteachersconcernsaboutthewarandtheirhopeforthefuture. astheanti-japanesewarcametotheend，theschoolmovedbacktowuhanin1946.startingfromscratch，itbeganthereconstructionwork，underthenewnameoftheprovincialhanyangvocationalschoolofadvancedindustry.thesepicturesshowthestudentsconductingexperimentsandextracurricularactivities.theitemsinthisshowcasearethetextbooks，examinationpapers，andgraduationpapersofstudentsatthattime. thethirdpartoftheexhibitionsisdevotedtotheyearsafterthefoundingofthepeoplesrepublicofchina.aftertheliberationofwuhanin1949，theschoolchangeditsnametowuchangadvancedindustrialschool.itwasoneofthetopfouradvancedschoolsinthecountryatthattime.fromthesepictures，youmightgetageneralideaofwhattheschoolwaslike.pleasehavealookatthesephoto，theywereshotduringthesessionsofthenationalpeoplescongress. theyear1958sawimmenseeffortsofthechinesegovernmentinpushingforwardthedevelopmentofthemetallurgicalindustry.toanswertheneedofmoreengineersandtechniciansinthefieldofironandsteel，thethenministryofmetallurgicalindustrydecidedtosetupwuhanironandsteelinstituteonthebasisofwuchangadvancedindustrialschoolandbyrelyingontheresourcesofwuhanironandsteelcompany.thisisalistofthenamesofuniversityleadersthroughoutthoseyears. thepicturehereshowschairman，accompaniedbyliyiqing，thefirstpresidentofouruniversityandthegeneralmanagerofwuhanironandsteelcompanyonaninspectiontourofwuhanironandsteelcompanyin1958.theothertwopicturesshowprof.taohanying，ateacherofouruniversity，didinterpretationfor，chairmanofthecentralcommitteeofthecpc，andzhude，chairmanofthestandingcommitteeofthenationalpeoplescongress，intheirmeetingswiththesovietexperts.thenewly-establishedwuhanironandsteelinstituteinheritedtheglorioustraditionofhubeitechnicalschoolandwuchangadvancedindustrialschool，andsurpassedthetwoinbothteachingandresearch.itstressedtheimportanceofcooperatingwithenterprises，andthesepicturesshowteachershelpingenterprisessolvetechnicalproblems.in1986，anumberofgraduatesofwuhanironandsteelinstituterodebikestotakeofficeinxinjiangironandsteelcompany.thewholejourneytookalmost40daysandcovered4000miles.nowwehaveenteredthetimecorridorofthismuseum，whereweshallwitnessthetransitionofou
