What was the water like before?What is the water like?Ss: The water was very clean before, but now it is very dirty.T: It used to be very beautiful. But now there are some chemical factories doing harm to our environment. What are they?Please look at 3a.Step 2 Presentation1 Show some pictures about3a and teach the students to learn some new words: breathe, influence, soil, harmful, be harmful to2 Let the students look at the pictures to tell the kinds of pollution and finish 3a and 3b. Then check the answers.And the teacher can also help the students to finish 3b.3 Discuss in groups and answer the questions to get the students to know some reasons and harm about pollution. There are several chemical factories pouring waste water into the stream.3 Sum up: There be sb. / sth. doing sth.Step 4 Practice1 Change direct speech into indirect speech. Tell the students to pay attention to the change of the tense. Eg: Kangkang says, “I ts a beautiful place with a lot of flowers and grass”. Kangkang said that it was a beautiful place with a lot of flowers and grass.2 Finish 1b. and check the answers.3 Let the students sum up how to change a direct speech into an indrect speech.4 Learn the grammar in the learning plan and do some exercises in it to have a test.
