TheGSHP(groundsourceheatpump)isoneoftheef cientandsustainablemethodstoprovidespaceheatingandhotwaterforvariouskindsofbuildings.TheGSHP,worksbymeansofthevaporcompressioncycle,whichcoolsacirculating uidthat owsthroughasystemofclosedloops.Theseloopsareburiedwithinthegroundeitherhorizontally,iflandspacepermits,orverticallybymeansofboreholes.Thedirectionofheat owisfromthegroundtothecooler uidandthisheatisupgradedtoahighertemperaturethroughthevaporcompressioncyclefordeliverytothebuilding5.Thegroundsourceheatpumpsprovideanewandcleanwayofheatingbuildingsintheworld.Theymakeuseofrenewableenergystoredintheground,providingoneofthemostenergy-ef cientwaysofheating.Theyaresuitableforawidevarietyofbuildingtypesandareparticularlyappropriateforlowenvironmentalimpactprojects6.
