Key Vocabulary pen pal write letter emailIV. Teaching Strategies1. Warm-up (5 minutes) Ask students if they have a pen pal and if so, what they like about writing to them. Lead a class discussion about the benefits of having a pen pal and how it can help them learn about other cultures.2. Introduction to vocabulary (10 minutes) Introduce the key vocabulary through flashcards and pictures. Practice pronunciation and spelling of each word.3. Lets Talk (35 minutes) Divide students into pairs or small groups. Give each student a pen pal profile worksheet (found in the PEP textbook). Students ask and answer questions about their pen pals, using the vocabulary words they have learned. Encourage students to use complete sentences and ask follow-up questions to expand their conversations. After about 20-25 minutes of practice, ask students to choose one of their pen pal profiles and present it to the class.4. Wrap-up (5 minutes) Have students reflect on what they have learned about pen pals. Discuss ways they can use what they have learned to improve their own communication skills.V.
