Point the map of the world and ask:Have you ever been to England/ the United States / Canada ?Ask the students to answer these questions. Step 2 Leading in: Say: These are English-speaking countries. Ask: Do you like these countries? Do you like English? Why do you study English? Get the students to answer the questions. Step 3: Presentation:1. Ask the students to open their books at Page 71.Look at the five reasons of why you study English. Say: Some of them are important to you, and some of them may not be important to you. Ask the students to do a quick check to think which reasons are most important.2. Let students read the conversation in Activity 1b.Then look at activity 1a. 3. Talk about your reasons for studying English with your partner. Have conversations like the sample dialogue.4. As students work, move around the room checking the progress of the pair and offering help as needed.5. Ask a few pairs to present their conversations to the class. Step 4 : Listening: 1. 2a: First, ask students to read the activities listed in Activity 2a.Tell them well listen to a conversation. Please circle the questions you hear on the tape. Then, play the tape first, students only listen, then for a second time. This timestudents can circle the questions. Finally, check the answers: a, c, d, f should be circled.2. 2b: Ask the students to read the questionnaire. Then play the tape and thestudents write down the answers, at last, check answers.Step 5: Pairwork: 拓展延伸1. Ask two students to read the sample dialogue.2.
