JackLondonTableofContents1.Theinformationofwriter2.Themaincontents4.MyopinionofthisbookTheinformationofwriterJackLondonwasbornonJanuary12,1876inCaliforniaanddiedonNov.22,1916,whoselifesymbolizedthepowerofwill,wasthemostsuccessfulwriterinAmericaintheearly20th.Hisfamilywasabankruptcy,andJackhadtoleaveschooltomakemoneyCentury。Heworkedhardinmanydifferentjobs.Later,Jackreturnedtoschool.Butdidntstaylong.Intheyear1897,hewetoAlaskatofindgold.Insteadofgettingmuchgold,hefoundideasforhisbooksandstories.Hewentbackhomeandbegantowrite.HiswritingwerewarmlywelcomedandhebecamerichandfamouswhenhewasunderthirtyJackLondonhaswrotten19novels,150shortstoriesandnumerousarticlesintheliteraturereportset,essaysandpapers.Themoregoodthere,CalloftheWild(1903),WhiteTeeth(1906),biglight(1910),MoonValley(1913),BlackMexicanpeople(1913),andLeninappreciatedbytheLoveofLife(1906).Butbythelate,hecameoutofsocialstruggle,inordertomeetthepublisherstomeettheindividualneedsandalsowrotealotofmaterialcomfortsshoddywork.In1916JackLondonjustlikeMartinEdeninhismasterpiece,whoistheheroinhisnovel,andfinallykilledhimselfinthespiritofthegreatemptinessanddespairofsuicide.ThemaincontentsAtthebeginningof20thcentury,manynewwritersemergedwiththeintroductionofmanynewideas.Amongthem,JackLondonwasthemostpopularone.Hismostfamousnovelisthecallofthewild(野性的呼唤).Althoughitisastoryaboutadog,Buck,itvividlydepictsthelifeintheprimitiveNorthwherepeoplerushedforgoldandfortune.Buck,themaincharacter,isa140lbSaintBernard/ScotchShepherdcross,whichgiveshimtheappearanceofanexceptionallylargedog.BuckleadsacomfortablelifeasthepetofJudgeMillerintheSantaClaraValleyofNorthernCalifornia.JudgeMillersgardenersassistant,Manuel,abductsthedogandsellshimtoatrainerofsleddogs,whichwereingreatdemandduetothediscoveryofayellowmetalinthefrozenlandsoftheYukon.Slowlyintroducedtothebrutalityofhisnewlife,BuckisforcedtosurviveandadapttoconditionsinAlaskaandtheYukon.Heworkspullingsledswithotherdogs,learnstostealfood,andengagesinpowerstrugglewithotherdogsfortheleadpositioninthesledteam.Hisownerssoonlearnthateventhoughhisenemy,Spitz,isadevil,Buckistwodevils.HebecomestheleaderofthesledteamafterdefeatingSpitzinabattle.Hechangeshandsmanytimesbeforeheiseventuallyacquiredbyakindandlovingowner,JohnThornton.WhenThorntoniskilledbyYeehatnativeAmericans,Buckgoesintoabeastlyrageandkillsseveralmembersofthenativetribe.BuckreturnstothewildandbecomesthealphamaleofawolfpackhemetafewdaysbeforethedeathofThornton.OftheworldBuckenters,Londonwritesthesalientthingofthisotherworldseemedfear.ItisaworldofdreamthatBuckenters,whenhebecomessomethingofalegend.Thoughshort,itisreallyathrillingstory.Whatyouneverforgetisthetoughlifeinthenature,thebraveandcraftydog.Maybethewildiscallingyoutogoahead.Myopinionofthisbook“Hesingsasongoftheyoungerworld,whichisthesongofthepack.(ChapterVIITheSoundingoftheWild).Thisismyfavoritesentence.EverytimeIreadit,Iwillbeencouragebyit.ThefriendshipbetweenBuckanditsownerdeeplymovedandshockedme.ThemostdeeplyimpressiontomeinthenovelisthenevergiveupspiritofBucktogoafterfreedom,thepursuitofthewild,alsoishelookingforthefree.Besideshepublicitythecourageandtheconfidenceoftheoriginallifemakehebecamethekingofthewolves,andthestrengthpulledheoutofthedarkshadowandwalkintothelightoftheroad.Buckjustadog,hecannotchoosetheirownlifetheaccordingtorulesofhumancivilization,butasapersonwealsofeltthesamefrustration.Butweshouldbelievethatalllifehastherighttochooseandfreedomtochooseobedienceorrebellion,choosetoproudliving,selectthemainsquarewhereeveryonehastheegualrighttochooseandfreedom.Nomatteryourchosenisrightorwrong,aslongasyougoonthisroadcouragetofacelifeandreality,notfear,notretreat,alwayscreatedthemiracleoflife.
