He was born in 1564. His father was an important man in his town, so Shakespeare had a good upbringing (教养). Shakespeare went to school but not university. He got married to Anne Hathaway when he was 18 and the couple had 3 children. Shakespeare wrote 38 plays . He began working in his hometown of Stratford but in 1592 he was writing in London. He became rich enough to buy a house in the capital and in his hometown. He wrote sad stories called tragedies,like Romeo and Juliet, funny stories or comedies,Romantic stories and stories about historical figures such as Julius Caesar. He died on his birthday in 1616, almost 400 years ago. But why is his work still popular today? His work looked at common human themes(主题),such as murder, power and love. These themes are as much a part of human nature today as they were and are the ones we see in modern soap operas(肥皂剧) and Hollywood films. Even though his theatre , the Globe ,burned down in 1613,it was rebuilt in London in 1997 and you can still see his plays there today. Shakespeares influence(影响) on the English language can still be felt today. For example, we often talk about “fair play” , meaning honest behavior but this phrase was first used by Shakespeare. 21. The CF market could not get enough investment (投资) for the government to make up the millions needed to develop new drugs. So she gave up her job and jumped into the CF business full time. She now takes part in events organized by the CF Foundation, and gives speeches wherever she can. The money she raises goes to the CF Foundation, letting it employ scientists to study the disease.
