Report on Qinhuangdao Power Generating Company Limited development strategy researchAbstract With the deepening reform of the power system,the business model of the power industry and power generation business environment is undergoing profound changes.Through the introduction of the past and present state of development of the Qinhuangdao Power Generation Co.Ltd,this paper adopts PEST environmental analysis model to systemically analysis the companys domestic environment,draw on Porters industry analysis model to analyze the competitive environment,analyze the opportunities and threats that exists in the current environment,and then work out the future development strategy,and put forward countermeasures and suggestions to implementation of the strategy , it has certain application value on the companys development strategy.Keyword: Development Strategy; Power Industry;PEST Analysis;1. Introduction The power industry is the countrys basic industries,which has been controlled long by the state,it is the state monopolies.Electricity market competition changes more severely,and the electricity market is more complex than ever before.Faced with intense changes in the market and the serious challenges in the business environment,the company want to be able to obtain long-term survival and continuous development , it is imperative to develop enterprise development strategies. Development strategy has a direct impact on enterprise development direction, objectives, priorities and strategies,it has played an irreplaceable important role in long-term stable and healthy development of enterprises.In a sense,business is whether successful or not,making flexible use of strategic management is also very important. In the face of the increasingly serious current business environment and increasingly the difficulty a new situation,Qinhuangdao Power Generation Co. Ltd is order to always occupy the dominant position in the increasingly fierce market competition,it must constantly adapt to new environments and accelerate the formulation of the new companys development strategy. It must make a new development strategy as a guide,make effort to develop itself to become a first-class enterprise which has a solid core business and can carry out a variety of operating capacity in the areas of strength .2. Qinhuangdao Power Generating Company Limited Environmental Analysis2.1 The company backgroundQinhuangdao Power Generating Company Limited located in the industrial zone of Qinhuangdao City, the eastern part of the harbor area, the predecessor was founded in December 1990, the company is a joint venture by the North China Power Grid Co., Ltd. and Hebei Construction Investment Company, QinhuangdaoPower Generation Company Limited established on May 18, 1994. In January of 1998 ,it begin to make corporatization and restructuring and legal management, commercial operations, becoming the first North China Power Grid to the market, which is independent accounting, self-financing power generation companies. The company of total investment are 3.4 billion yuan. The company has four generating units, the total installed capacity of 1 million kilowatts, is a national-class power plants.2.2The analysis of the past condition about the company We can adopt PEST environmental analysis model to systemically analysis the companys domestic environment.First, we can talk about the political environment.The political environment is political factors that constrain and influence the development of enterprises,involving the countrys social system, political structure, the government promulgated the guidelines and policies, political groups, the political situation as well as other countries of the worlds foreign policy.Second,the legal environment include the national administrative organs at all levels of the various laws and regulations, and statutory provisions.2.3 The analysis of the future condition about the company2.3.1 The economic environment The economic environment is an enterprise survival and development of socio-economic situation that the countrys economic policies, including social and economic structure, economic structure, macroeconomic policies, the distribution of productive forces, demographic factors, the degree of market development, regional economic development level.Compared with other environmental forces, the economic environment has a more broad and direct impact on business activities. Chinese economy and the world economy increasingly integrated domestic and international markets increasingly high degree of integration of a number of strong multinational large-scale entering the country, so that our enterprises are faced with international pressure not abroad, but also to the international market for our companies, and participate in international competition to create opportunities and convenience.
