But it has a long history. That is to say, its history can date back to about 2,500 years ago and even 3,500 years ago. The first trials of the medicine took place in 1899 and in 1900 it was sold in shops. Aspirin has many uses. For example, it can reduce fever and help stop pain. It can also reduce the risk of heart attacks, prevent a stroke and reduce the risk of colon cancer and blood sugar levels.Penicillin was discovered by a Scottish scientist Fleming in 1928. But its widespread use was during World War II. It helped save many lives. It was the great drug of the 20th century. Three scientists shared the Nobel Prize for their work on the medicine.
