Present Ss a picture that surprises all the students, like the pictures under the sea or the earth, and ask Ss about their feelings.Look at this picture. How do you feel when you see such a picture?2. Tell the Ss that our world is full of amazing things and write the new word “amazing” on the Bb. 3. Ask the Ss questions, like “Can you tell me some amazing things?”4. Show the first picture of Part A and help teach the new words using the picture:T: What can you see in the picture?S: The Sun and the Earth. T: Which one is larger, the Sun or the Earth?S: Yes, the Sun. The Sun is about 1, 300, 000 times larger than the Earth. 5. Take turns to show the other three pictures: There are three more sentences about amazing things. Please read them in pairs and find the new words: same, birth, stop growing.Step 2 Practice 1. Guide Ss to do exercises in Part A. T: Today well learn a lot amazing things. In Part A, you can see four pictures. Please match the pictures with the sentences. Practise reading the sentences by yourselves. 2. Ask Ss to read freely and recall sentences about amazing things.Lets read the sentences again. 3. Let Ss be familiar with these expressions. Close your books and let me see if you can remember the four amazing things. _ sleep with their eyes open. Our nose and ears never _, but your _ arethe same size from birth. The Sun is about 1, 300, 000 _ larger than the _.There are no _ in the back of elephants feet- only fat. Step 3 Presentation1. Practise expressing feelings using the adjectives learnt. Now you have learnt some amazing things. How do you feel? And Write down some new adjectives: amazing, cool, funny, wonderful and interesting. 2. Play the tape about Part B and say to Ss: Kitty and Amy are talking about the fun facts in Part A. Listen to their conversation and tell me which pictures theyre talking about and what they think of the facts. 3. Ask one student: Theyre talking about Pictures 1 and 4. They think theyre interesting and amazing. 4. Play the tape again and let students read after the teacher: Close your books and listen to the conversation again. Try to repeat the sentences. 5. Divide the class into halves and read the dialogue in different roles. Now the boys will role-play Kitty and the girls will role-play Amy. Lets read the conversation together. Try not to look at the book if you can. Step 4 Comic Strips 1. Hobo and Eddie are talking about something strange in the sky. Do you know what theyre talking about? Lets have a look.2. Listen to the tape and answer the questions: Whats in the sky? Can you guess what theyre saying?What does Hobo think it is? Does he think its a UFO?3. Open the books. Repeat after the tape and check your answers at the same time. 4. Lets dub this comic. Can you demostrate with me to the whole class. Work in pairs, one as Hobo and the other as Eddie. Learn the new word.Read them in pairs.Finish Part A.Read the sentences.Listen to the tape and answer the questions.Make up some new dialogues. Then act them out.Listen to the recording and answer the questions.Read the dialogue and act it out.课后作业1. Finish the school paper 2.
