How to improve your article?Good afternoon, everyone. Im so honored to be given the chance to talk about my teaching plan. This topic mainly talks about how to improve your article in English writing.The students in high school have known some basic knowledge about English writing. Teaching aim is that in this class, they are able to express their ideas with these methods under the teachers guidance. I will make full use of this lesson to stimulate the students learning motivation and improve their ability of cooperating with each other through discussing.Teaching important and difficult points are how to make use of the skills to write a good English composition and how to improve the Ss writing skills.Ill use the following teaching methods: group work method and task-based learning.The teaching aid I use in this class is multi-media and slide.Teaching procedure: Here comes the most important part of my teaching planmy teaching procedure.Step1. Presentation: 3The students are given two compositions written by students in one exam. One is well written, marked 26 while the other is just so-so, only 18.I asked the students to compare them and find why this is better than the other. They may give some different opinions.So we summarize the Characteristics of a good composition: advanced vocabulary, correct sentence structures, proper connectives and so on. Step2: Improve your composition with advanced words and complex structures.Ask the class to work in small groups to find some good words and structures in first composition decide “which words can be improved?” and “How?” Then share with the class.In this step students will show their different ideas on how to make the writing better. By doing this, students will learn a lot from each other. Step 3: Improve it with connectives.1. List different types of connectives2. Then do one exercise to practice. I present a passage on the screen with no connectives. And the class improve it with proper connectives.3. Then come back to the first composition. Students work in groups again and try to find correct connectives to make the passage better-organized.Step 4.PracticeAfter all the above steps, the students have a general idea of a good composition, then show them another passage marked 18-20 and make some changes to form a better one.Step5. Homework In this class we just try to make the students know what a good composition is like. But they need constant practice. So the homework is to ask them to rewrite one of their own writings.
