Yang-1Analysis of Romeos feelings between Rosaline and JulietThe two loves of Romeo: unrequited and indomitableRomeo and Juliet is an immortal work of Shakespeare because of the soul-stirring love story between hero and heroine. It focuses on the tragedy between Montague and Capulet families. For a long time, people have only praised the great love between Romeo and Juliet, overlooked another important girl for Romeo before he met Juliet. That is Rosaline. However, youll find out that the feelings of Romeo between Rosaline and Juliet were quite different after you finish the book. Romeos feeling to Rosaline was an immature, affected emotions, he just had fell in an unrequited love with her and never got any response of love from her. As to Juliet, he fell in love with her at the first sight then couldnt help stopping loving her until the last moment of his life. On the other hand, Juliet loved him very much just as he loved her. (wikipedia)As a matter of fact, the feelings of Romeo toward Rosaline were ignorant and full of fantacies. His feelings to her make him cast melancholy temperament and his appearances have been marked by a frustrated love mark. He had been struggling alone in emotional quicksand facing his unrequited love and sunk into it deeper and deeper. He believed himself in love with Rosaline, so he assumed the postures made famous by Petrarch. Romeo, like every youth who wished be in love, imitated these postures of adoration and melancholy that had become famous.(sparknotes)Its not difficult to see all the pain of Romeo originated from suffering from bitter of lovesickness because of his self-torment from the first sentence Romeo said to Benvolio “Out of her favor, where I am in love” concerning the reasons of Romeos anxiety. The pain of seeking first love but not get made the boy have little doubt in himself and the love he stuck to.Alas, that love, whose view is muffled still, Should, without eyes, see pathways to his will!”, Heres much to do with hate, but more with love. Why, then, O brawling love! O loving hate!O any thing, of nothing first create!O heavy lightness! serious vanity!Mis-shapen chaos of well-seeming forms!Feather of lead, bright smoke, cold fire, sick health!Still-waking sleep, that is not what it is!This love feel I, that feel no love in this.(Act I, scene 1)The emergence of such a dialogue, fully reflects his inner intense conflicts and lacking of confidence to the hopeless love. His sad feelings offered the chance for coming together with Juliet and falling in love with her quickly. A young man, being unable to extricate himself from loves illusions, suffered from a deeper blow in reality. And those blow made he remain the love between Rosaline and him to a wishful thinking of the stupid fiction. Despite Romeo had been aware of clearly that this was an unilateral love without result, he always couldnt get out of it and only turned into a painful sadness. Romeos love for Rosaline, in fact, was only the normal expression for love of a confused adolescent man. It also can explain that when he met Juliet he was immediately attracted by her. Romeos feelings for Rosaline to a certain extent also could be understood as a naive and fallacious impulse. In his small world, Rosaline seems to be his goddess. Goddesss decision of not marrying made Romeo plunge into an unprecedented despair. He apparently tried to exaggerate his love toward Rosaline, on the other hand, he had a strong desire for an alternative to save his despair in his heart. She hath, and in that sparing makes huge waste,For beauty starved with her severityCuts beauty off from all posterity. She is too fair, too wise, wisely too fair,To merit bliss by making me despair:She hath forsworn to love, and in that vowDo I live dead that live to tell it now.(Act I, scene 1)Romeos love words for Rosaline could be seen as wild words of a boy who were into a painful and unrequited love. Romeos love for Rosaline had completely died until the emergence of Juliet. The emergence of Rosaline did enough groundwork for Romeos melancholic temperament on one hand, on the other hand, made Romeo learn to cherish in pain and was his emotional enlightenment. It was only because of her appearance that Romeo learned to love and made this love story develop more reasonable.Romeos love toward Juliet was sincere and indomitable. Romeo found out Juliet shining like a diamond in the crowd of people and couldnt remove his eyes from her. The emergence of Juliet was just like a life-saving rope for Romeo who was struggling in emotional quagmire.O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of nightLike a rich jewel in an Ethiopes ear;Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear!Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight! For I neer saw true beauty till this night. (Act I, scene 5)It was because of Rosalines hit and hur
