Michelle_Obama精彩演讲_中英对照When it comes to giving our kids the educaiton they deserve,Barack knows that like me and like so many of youhe never couldve attended college without finacial aidAnd believe it or not, when we were first marriedour combined monthly student loan bills were actually higher than our mortgageWe were so young, so in love, and so in debtAnd thats why Barack has fought so hard to increase student aid and keep interest rates down, because he wants every young person to fulfill their promisesand be able to attend college without a mountain of debtSo in the end, for Barack, these issues arent political-theyre personalBecause Barack knows what it means when a family strugglesHe knows what it means to want something more for your kids and grandkidsBarack knows the American Dream because hes lived itand he wants everyone in this country to have that same opportunityno matter who we are ,or where were form, or what we look like, or who we loveAnd he believes that when youve worked hard, and done welland walked through that doorway of opportunityyou do not slam it shut behind you, you reach backand you give other folks the same chances that helped you succeed. So when people ask me whether being in the White House has changed my husbandI can hoestly say that when it comes to his character, and his convictions, and his heartBarack Obama is still the same man I fell in love with all those years agoHes the same man who started his career by turing down high paying jobsand instead working in struggling neighorbhoods where a steel plant had shut downfighting to rebuild those communications and get folks back to workbecause for Barack, success isnt about how much money you make, its about the difference you make in peoples livesHes the same man who, when our girls were first born, would anxiously check their cribs every few minutes to ensure they were still breathing, proudly showing them off to everynone we knewThats the man who sits down with me and our girls for dinner nearly every nightpatiently answering their questions about issues in the newsand strategizing about middle school friendshipsThats the man I see in those quiet moments late at night, hunched over his deskporing over the letters people have sent himThe letter from the father stuggling to pay his billsfrom the woman dying of cancer whose insurance company wont cover her carefrom the young people with so much promise but so few opputunitiesI see the concern in his eyes, and I hear the determination in his voice as he tells meyou wont believe what there folks are going through, Michelle, its not rightWeve got to keep working to fix this, weve got so much more to doI see how those stories-our collection of struggles and hopes and dreamsI see how thats what drives Barack Obama every single dayAnd I didnt think that it was possible, but let me tell you, today, I love my husband even more than I did four years agoeven more than I did 23 years ago, when we first metLet me tell you why. I love that hes never forgotten how he startedI love that we can trust Barack to do what he says hes going to do, even when its hard especially when its hardI love that for Barack, there is no such thing as us and themhe doesnt care whether youre a Democrat, a Republican, or none of the above,he knows that we all love our country, and hes always ready to listen to good ideashes always looking for the very best in everyone he meets. And I love that even in the toughest moments, when were all sweating it when were worried that the bill wont pass, and it seems like all is lostBarack never lets himself get distracted by te chatter and the noise Just like his grandmother, he just keeps getting up and moving forwardwith patience and wisdom, and courage and graceAnd he reminds me that we were playing a long game hereAnd that change is hard, and change is slow, and it never happens all at onceBut eventually we get there, we always dowe get there because of folks like my Dad, folks like Baracks grandmathermen and women who said to themselvesI may not have a chance to fulfill my dreams, but maybe my children willmaybe my grandchildren will So many of us stand here tonight because of their sacrifice, and longing ,and steadfast loveBecause time and again, they swallowed their fears and doubts and did what was hardSo today, when the challenges we face start to seem overwhelming or even impossiblelet us never forget that doing impossilble is the history of this nationit is who we are as American, its how this country was builtAnd if our parents and grandparents could toil and strggle for usif they could raise beams of steeal to the sky, send a man to the moonand connect the world with the touch of a buttonthen surely we keep on sacrificing and building for our own kids and grandkids, right? And if so many br
