This Standard is based on ASTM E2187-04, Standard test method for measuring the ignition strength of cigarettes. The ASTM method was the result of over 10 years work and is reported to have been validated by laboratories in the US, but is yet to be validated in Australia. Although no laboratory test is a perfect predictor of the complex and varied causes of fires, this test method has been developed to determine extinction propensity of cigarettes. The Standard is downloaded from www.bzfxw.com Standard SharingAccessed by UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA on 17 Mar 2007The terms normative and informative have been used in this Standard to define the application of the appendix to which they apply. A normative appendix is an integral part of a Standard, whereas an informative appendix is only for information and guidance.Accessed by UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA on 17 Mar 2007CONTENTSPageFOREWORD. 41SCOPE .5 2APPLICATION . 53REFERENCED DOCUMENTS . 54DEFINITIONS. 55PRINCIPLE . 56HEALTH AND SAFETY OF OPERATORS . 67APPARATUS . 68CALIBRAT
