The explosion sent thick black smoke into the sky, pulled down big trees and destroyed houses, resulting in oil flowing into the sea and 18,000 people evacuated from nearby urban areas. As many as 62 people were killed and 136 others injured in the accident. A great number of rescue workers, police and doctors as well as ambulances were sent to the scene to rescue the injured, find the cause of the accident and strengthen safety. It was Sinopec Corp that was to blame for the accident and the local government also made an apology to the public. It is suggested that effective measures should be taken to strengthen the responsibilities of departments concerned and protect the safety of peoples lives. As far as I am concerned, students who break the rules should be asked to do some cleaning or tidying as a punishment or something beneficial to the school and other students. This reminds me of my experience last year when I was overslept and missed the first class. Instead of scolding me, my class teacher asked me to do the drawing of the bulletin board with the theme of thanksgiving on Teachers Day. She also lent me a DVD named Jane Eyre. When I saw how hard the girls were treated in the boarding school, I realized I should be strict with myself. From the experience Ive learned that education means more than punishment.
